Job Description

General Responsibilities
  • Building a Trusting and Safe Environment
  • Coordinates and facilitates agile ceremonies (Refinement/Grooming, Sprint planning, Sprint Demo/Review, Sprint Retrospective and Daily stand-up meetings)
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Facilitating & getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Coordinates with Users, PO and Release team for Delivering the product to Live
  • Holds team, product owner and stakeholders accountable for their commitments
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Guiding the team to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Improving Synergy between Scrum Team & PO
  • Creating & Managing Scrum Metrics (Burndown, Velocity Trend, Release Burn Down, etc.,)
  • Creating & Managing Impediments List & Tracking for Closure
  • Ensuring Scrum team not interrupted to meet Release/Sprint Goal
  • Sharing Retrospective Feedback to Stakeholders
  • Co-ordinating with Delivery Leads for Engaging Resources(Scrum/Non-Scrum)
  • Co-ordinating with Delivery Leads for Closure of Project Risk or Issues
  • Maintains Project Dashboard for Business & Management Reporting
  • Maintains RAID Log
Responsibilities - Team Specific
  • Guiding the team to understand Agile Values & Principles and to align Organization/Unit goal
  • Guiding the team to be Self Organization, Cross-Functional & Self-Motivated
  • Providing required support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Enabling team for value orionted delivery to delight customers
  • Protects team from distractions, such as mid-sprint change-requests
Responsibilities - PO Specific

  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Assisting PO to Create Product/Release Roadmap
  • Assisting PO to Create Functional Epics & User Stories with Business Value
  • Creating & Managing the Release Plan
  • Ensuring Functional/Non-Functional Requirements Managed & Updated in Product Backlog
  • Encourage Product Owner to Engage Users & Other Stakeholders to Participate in Sprint Review
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Scrum Master Certification (CSM or PSM I)
  • Experience in playing the Scrum Master Role minimum of One Year
  • Having Hands-on Experience with Agile Project Management Tools(JIRA, Version One, RTC, Rally etc.,)
  • Diligently able to apply Scrum Principles, Practices, and Theory
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Preferred Skills/Experience (Any of these is a plus):
  • Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II, SAFe, LeSS, ICP-ACC etc.,)
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team
  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs,etc)
  • Previous experience as a Project/Technical/Team Lead
